The casting misfit: how to cope.
نویسنده
چکیده
C onstructing a casting that seats well and is retentive and comfortable to the patient taxes even the most conscientious dentist. The final seating is dependent upon so many sequential elements that any single procedure may prove to be an unacceptable link, resulting in failure. We must face the fact that under average conditions, when the casting, whether extracoronal or intracoronal, comes from the laboratory, it will be elevated approximately 200 h on the prepared tooth. Occlusal adjusting is almost routine. Occlusal margins are not in apposition with the cavosurface angle. These problems and the attendant frustrations will be considered in their logical order: impressions, die materials, die-spacing or casting relief, choice of cements and liners, and the mixing of cements.

Effect of Cast Rectifiers on the Marginal Fit of Ucla Abutments
OBJECTIVES This study assessed the effect of cast rectifiers on the marginal misfit of cast UCLA abutments compared to premachined UCLA abutments. The influence of casting and porcelain baking on the marginal misfit of these components was also investigated. METHODS Two groups were analyzed: test group - 10 cast UCLA abutments, finished with cast rectifier and submitted to ceramic application...
متن کاملProsthetic laboratory influence on the vertical misfit at the implant/UCLA abutment interface.
An inadequate fit at the abutment/implant interface can generate mechanical and biological problems. The laboratorial stages could induce misfit in such interface when the castable UCLA abutment type is used. The purpose of this study was to comparatively evaluate the performance of three prosthetic laboratories (Labs A, B and C) by vertical fit analysis of castable UCLA abutments on the castin...
متن کاملProsthetic misfit of implant-supported prosthesis obtained by an alternative section method
PURPOSE Adequate passive-fitting of one-piece cast 3-element implant-supported frameworks is hard to achieve. This short communication aims to present an alternative method for section of one-piece cast frameworks and for casting implant-supported frameworks. MATERIALS AND METHODS Three-unit implant-supported nickel-chromium (Ni-Cr) frameworks were tested for vertical misfit (n = 6). The fram...
متن کاملInfluence of Manufacturing Methods of Implant-Supported Crowns on External and Internal Marginal Fit: A Micro-CT Analysis
Aim To evaluate the influence of different manufacturing methods of single implant-supported metallic crowns on the internal and external marginal fit through computed microtomography. Methods Forty external hexagon implants were divided into 4 groups (n = 8), according to the manufacturing method: GC, conventional casting; GI, induction casting; GP, plasma casting; and GCAD, CAD/CAM machinin...
متن کاملMarginal fit at cylinder-abutment interface before and after overcasting procedure.
The aim of this study was to measure marginal fit at cylinder-abutment interface, before and after overcasting procedure. A hexagonal implant was fixed to a stainless steel base and a Estheticone-like abutment used during all the experiment. Before casting procedure, gold (Group I) and Ni-Cr-Be (Group II) premachined cylinders were tightened to the abutment with gold and titanium screws (in bot...
